Minerals Investment StartegyMinerals Investment Strategy

New Zealand’s mineral estate is a significant national asset with the potential to make a large and long-term contribution to our economic well-being.  We need to attract more investors and explorers with the capability and capacity for large scale minerals and coal exploration in regions with the highest exploration potential and lowest environmental barriers to entry.  The Minerals Investment Strategy outlines the key steps towards achieving this.

Epithermal Gold in New Zealand: GIS Data Package and Prospectivity ModellingEpithermal Gold in New Zealand: GIS Data Package and Prospectivity Modelling

This CD contains GIS maps and data, reports and geological models specific to New Zealand epithermal gold mineralisation. The modelling highlights prospective, under-explored areas that have the likelihood of containing epithermal gold deposits. It:

  • Compiles digital and GIS datasets providing the most up-to-date and comprehensive geoscientific information on epithermal gold mineralisation available on a national scale.
  • Provides complementary cultural and geographic information in GIS to allow effective spatial interrogation of the data.
  • Uses spatial pattern recognition techniques in GIS to detail regional scale prospectivity in areas conducive to epithermal gold mineralisation.

Mesothermal Gold in New Zealand: GIS Data Package and Prospectivity Modelling coverMesothermal Gold in New Zealand: GIS Data Package and Prospectivity Modelling

This CD-based data package and prospectivity study publishes significant new geological knowledge via maps and reports and highlights significant potential for the discovery of new gold deposits. It:

  • compiles digital and GIS datasets providing the most up-to-date and comprehensive geoscientific information on mesothermal gold mineralisation available on a national scale.

  • provides complementary cultural and geographic information in GIS to allow effective spatial interrogation of the data.

  • details regional scale prospectivity for Palaeozoic and Mesozoic gold mineralisation using spatial pattern recognition techniques in GIS

New Zealand MiningNew Zealand Mining

A six monthly magazine published until June 2002 which recorded the latest exploration and mining activities and included several feature articles discussing current production, recent discoveries and information to aid exploration. A regular feature was the Mineral commodity reports; a list with links to PDFs is available on this site.

Until mid-1998, this magazine was produced 3-4 times a year and contained publicly available reports and updates of permit applications, grants and changes. After this these were printed in NZ Mining Updates.
